ROLE DESCRIPTION
The mission.

As a Service Designer you will help shape the design of services across all channels for some of the world's leading brands. Your ability to work as a part of a team to understand, document and design how people interact with brands will be critical in helping companies adapt to rapidly evolving retail markets.

At Veriteer, we champion data-driven design, so we’re looking for people who have both an interest in quantitative data and qualitative research. We’ll want to know how you might distinguish a finding from an insight, how you might validate an observation from an interview with research at scale. Can you explain the difference between a metric and a KPI? What insights from research (or life in general) transformed your opinion on something? How often are your assumptions ambushed by surprise? 

It’s easy to have ideas, it’s harder to shepherd them from concept to benefit. We’re looking for designers that have a genuine interest in people (on an individual, market and societal level), hard challenges, and messy problems. You’ll need creativity, tenacity, and a radar for distinguishing signal from noise. You don’t have to be a “service designer” right now, but you will need to explain how your experience from a different sector or discipline will make you a great service designer going forward. 

Critically we want to hear how you feed your brain. We’re looking for curious individuals who are prepared to probe the obvious and look at new ways of problem-solving if conventional approaches fail to surface a resolution. Even better if you can show how you actively reflect on life, in the form of a website, blog or social media account. We’re not looking for “influencers”, we are interested in how you demonstrate a ‘growth mindset’ (without using the words “growth mindset in an interview). What does service design mean to you beyond the quintessential artefacts of service blueprints, customer journeys and dot-voting?

In practical terms, here's the kind of thing you might get up to:

  • Analysing markets and brand performance;
  • Designing new products, brands, services, processes, and experiences that drive value for the customer and business;
  • Reviewing existing business models, as more services move online and cross-channel;
  • Being open to proposing new business models – as we balance profitability with sustainability;
  • Identifying and developing market trial roadmaps (service delivery and service impact);
  • Working alongside brand teams in a coaching role, with a conscious approach to knowledge transfer; and
  • Iterating, validating and iterating again.

  • We want to walk the talk, and demonstrate what good really looks like. This means  fully engaging in our CX initiatives, contributing original thinking to our voice in the market and driving innovation in how we advise on, and do, commerce. 
  • You will be working as part of a talented, diverse, cross-functional project team at both brand sites and in our offices.
  • The dynamic nature of our work means that your tasks can vary, sometimes day-to-day, and include workshop facilitation, preparation of documents and presentations, delivery of training and more.
  • We need passionate and data-driven service designers who proactively analyse what is happening in the market and use this knowledge to develop innovative services. 
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
The bit about you.

As a Service Designer at Veriteer, you will need to demonstrate experience as follows (at least 1 year of experience for Junior, 3 years' for Medior and 5 years' for Senior).

  • Experience in Service Design, customer-centric and business-focused multi-disciplinary design or continuous improvement roles.
  • An understanding of customer experience disciplines. 
  • Creativity, problem-solving and innovative approaches to customer engagement. 
  • We would love to see examples of you work and thought process, this may be in the form of a PDF or website portfolio - this really is a must.
  • Extra points if you have also have your own blog (photography, writing, sketching…). 
  • Basic visual design skills (e.g. Miro, Keynote etc).
  • Strong stakeholder management and team-working. 
  • A commitment to data driven decision-making.

  • Experience and comfort in a fast-paced start-up environment;
  • A self-motivated positive and achiever attitude;
  • Passion for tackling complex problems; and
  • Curiosity to keep learning new tools and keep up with new trends.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
The small print.

There are a few administrative requirements we need to be clear on up front:

  • You must be able to work in the EU with no visa requirements or restrictions and have no existing preclusion from working in the USA.
  • You must be flexible to travel, including internationally.
  • You will be provided with all technology, insurances and expenses to enable you to perform your duties as expected.
  • Membership of a professional body is not required, but all professional certifications and memberships should be detailed in your application for this post.
  • You must declare up front, any restrictions on the nature of work that you can perform, including any brand-specific covenants that would limit your ability to work for them.
